Are you passionate about the food ingredients industry and eager to drive growth in a highly international environment?

We are looking for a commercially driven Product Manager Expert – Asian Sourced Food Ingredients to join our European Food & Nutrition team. This is a newly created position reporting to the Regional Industry Director Food Europe.

The role is focused on expanding Caldic's footprint in Asian-sourced ingredients, with a strong emphasis on products sourced from China and other Asian markets. You will act as the commercial bridge between suppliers, sourcing teams, supply chain, sales organizations, and customers across Europe and Asia.

This position combines business development, supplier management, product portfolio ownership, and market development. You will play a key role in helping Caldic grow its business in commodity and specialty food ingredients while navigating the complexities of international trade, supply chain management, and market dynamics.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial professional who enjoys identifying opportunities, building relationships, educating customers and sales teams, and driving profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of Asian-sourced food ingredient suppliers, with a strong focus on China and other key sourcing regions.
  • Drive commercial growth and market expansion activities across the European Food & Nutrition business.
  • Collaborate closely with sourcing teams in Asia to optimize supplier relationships, product availability, and market opportunities.
  • Work with sales leaders and local commercial teams across Europe to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Support customers and sales teams with product recommendations, application-focused guidance, and commercial expertise.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, pricing discussions, budgeting activities, portfolio planning, and profitability management.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans for assigned product categories.
  • Train, educate, and support sales teams on products, market developments, and customer opportunities.
  • Act as the key commercial interface between suppliers, customers, sourcing teams, supply chain, and sales organizations.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer needs, competitive developments, and regulatory changes impacting the ingredient market.
  • Support the management of supply chain challenges and constraints related to Asian sourcing and international trade.
  • Maintain awareness of import regulations, foreign trade requirements, duties, tariffs, and anti-dumping measures impacting sourced ingredients.
  • Promote collaboration across functions to ensure successful execution of growth initiatives.

Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (field of study is flexible; relevant experience is the primary consideration).
  • At least 5 years of relevant commercial experience in food ingredients, specialty chemicals, ingredients distribution, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of food ingredients and food applications.
  • Experience working with commodity food ingredients such as citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium
    sorbate, sweeteners, polyols, and food amino acids and similar product categories 
  • Experience working with ingredients sourced from Asia, particularly China, is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, product portfolios, pricing, and commercial negotiations.
  • Understanding of international trade, importing, supply chain management, sourcing activities, and customs in China.
  • Knowledge of duties, tariffs, anti-dumping regulations, and foreign trade practices is considered a strong advantage.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken. Chinese and other European language skills are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ERP and CRM systems.
