Job Title: Regional Legal Counsel 

Location: Mumbai, India 

Work Arrangement: Onsite

About the Role

Our company is looking for a highly qualified Legal Counsel to support legal and compliance projects and contract management efforts. As part of this, the successful candidate will be asked to support legal and compliance workstreams pertaining to handling various commercial contracts and supporting compliance initiatives in India and other sub-regions in APAC. The successful candidate will report to the Legal & Compliance Director APAC.

 

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management

  • Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including non‑disclosure agreements, distribution and agency agreements, procurement‑related contracts, and other commercial documentation.
  • Provide practical legal advice to the business on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and compliance with internal contracting standards and approval processes.
  • Support the rollout and use of contract templates, standard terms and contract management guidelines across the region.

 

Compliance Support & Coordination

  • Support the management of compliance matters in the region, including acting as a point of contact for compliance queries from the business.
  • Assist with the identification and assessment of potential compliance issues and support internal compliance initiatives and investigations, under the guidance of the APAC Legal & Compliance Director.
  • Support the regional implementation of global compliance policies and procedures, including anti‑bribery & corruption, trade compliance, data privacy, and other applicable compliance frameworks.
  • Assist with compliance trainings, policy rollouts, and awareness initiatives at the country and regional level.

 

Regional Projects

  • Provide legal and compliance support for APAC‑specific projects and initiatives (e.g. integration projects, asset or legal entity structuring projects).
  • Provide support for Legal Department efficiency initiatives, including digitization, process improvement and standardization of legal and compliance workflows.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ of relevant experience, preferably in a reputable multinational corporation (in manufacturing and/or distribution industry highly desirable).
  • Prior experience in a reputable law firm would be a plus.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the APAC Legal & Compliance team.
  • To work independently, ability to prioritize between multiple tasks and demands and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Escalate issues, seek guidance, and align decisions with the APAC Legal & Compliance Director where matters involve higher risk, complexity, or regional impact.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
