Job Title: R&D Lab Assistant (Co-op)

About the Role

Position function: The R&D Lab Assistant role supports the commercial NPD process and technical support for Caldic’s manufactured product portfolio for the entire North American business through sample preparation and internal testing.  

Scope: This position will support the R&D team in its NPD and manufactured portfolio support, and report directly to the R&D and Applications Manager. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with other departments such as QA, Sample Room, Supply Chain, and Operations to collaborate and deliver on NPD success. Your ability to show a strong sense of ownership and initiative will be essential to supporting the success of Caldic’s customer-focused and solutions driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and shipment of samples blends for customer and/or internal testing
• Ingredient and blend testing support for R&D projects   
• Supporting with plant trials for new blends and scale up 
• Lab maintenance and replenishment of ingredients 

Knowledge / Skills & Experiences

• Post-secondary student on a co-op semester
• Preferable to have at least 2 years of post-secondary education in food science or related science with laboratory experience
• Physically able to lift 10 kg (20 lbs)
