About the Role

Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000

 

Position function: Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the individual will be responsible for monitoring, verifying, and documenting product quality and food safety throughout the manufacturing process. This role ensures compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and a strong food safety culture.

 

Scope: Based at our Mississauga facility, this role is part of the Quality Control team and will be responsible for reviewing obsolete inventory for viability & potential usages, investigating into Quality-related Inventory discrepancies, and managing non-confirming inventory. The role involves close collaboration with various departments including Manufacturing, Shipping & Receiving, Purchasing, Customer Service, R&D, Regulatory, and Sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately complete quality records, logs, and reports per SOP and regulatory requirements.
  • Review production records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Support traceability, lot control, and product release activities.
  • Research & Investigate Potential Usage of Obsolete Inventory
  • Oversee & Manage Rework Inventory, Adjust formulations to accommodate substitutions & rework material
  • Investigate Production & Sales Related Inventory Discrepancies
  • Conduct Warehouse Inspections
  • Oversee & Manage Expired Inventory, including performing internal SLEs through testing and/or coordinating with suppliers 
  • Determine disposition of ON HOLD materials
  • Oversee & Coordinate Returned Material Authorization (RMA) when received; Determine what product can be used for re-work, which may require internal quality testing
  • Manage Supplier Non-conformance issues for In-stock Inventory
  • Assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to quality deviations or non-conformances.
  • Identify, Log, escalate, and help investigate quality or food safety non-conformances in real time.
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and responses.
  • Work closely with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to maintain product quality.
  • Assist with training and enforcing quality procedures, GMPs, HACCP and food safety practices. 
  •  Develop, revise, and validate SOPs related to the role

Skills

  • Science Degree or Diploma (Food Science an asset)
  • Working experience with Food Quality and Safety (Including HACCP) Programs and Food Plant GMP’s
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a Food Manufacturing or Quality Lab
  • Must be able manage multiple priorities and deliver results within expected timeliness
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, allergen control, and food safety systems
  • Familiarity with CFIA/FDA regulations and GFSI standards is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
