About the Role
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
Position function: Reporting to the Director of Principal Development. The Principal Development Manager will manage Principal relationships in the assigned portfolio for Caldic North America where applicable, with an emphasis on execution, relationship management and support to the Commercial team.
Scope: The Principal Development Manager will focus on strategically owning our Principal relationships, to drive business development, optimize sourcing, ensure reliable and cost-effective supply to be aligned with our corporate strategy and while collaborating with our Business Team Leaders and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Problem Solving & Decision-Making: The level of problem solving and decision-making involved. Whether decisions are guided by defined procedures or requires independent thinking.
- Requires high levels of independent thinking and judgment
- Solves complex commercial, operational, and relationship challenges
- Balances competing priorities across stakeholders (Principals, Sales, Supply Chain)
- Decisions are often semi-structured, requiring both data analysis and experience-based judgment
- Escalates only high-risk or strategic trade-off decisions
- Communication & Influence: Who the role interacts with and the purpose of those interactions.
- Engages with:
- Senior leadership (strategic alignment and reporting)
- Principals (relationship management and negotiation)
- Sales teams (execution and enablement)
- Cross-functional teams (operations, pricing, supply chain)
- Align strategies and expectations
- Influence decision-making without direct authority
- Drive collaboration and resolve conflicts
- Translate strategy into actionable plans
Knowledge / Skills & Experiences
- Must have 8-12 years’ experience in Product/Category Management, Business Development or Procurement
- Strong commercial acumen and market understanding
- Knowledge of food/ingredient industry dynamics
- Financial and analytical capability (forecasting, margin analysis)
- CRM and business intelligence tools proficiency
- Strategic planning and execution skills
- Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills

- High level of ownership over assigned Principal portfolio
- Operates independently within strategic frameworks
