About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and customer‑focused Inside Sales & Account Specialist to support our business unit. In this role you may have responsibility for a Business Unit or segments within a business unit.
This role is designed for someone with 3–5 years of experience and a chemistry or materials‑related background who is looking to grow their commercial career in the chemical distribution or manufacturing industry.
As an Inside Sales & Account Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of customers, handle day‑to‑day commercial activities, and identify opportunities for growth within your assigned accounts. While the role does not require customer visits at this stage, you will build strong relationships via phone, email, virtual meetings, and close collaboration with our external sales and technical teams.
New business development will focus on expanding opportunities with existing customers, responding to inbound enquiries, and qualifying leads generated through marketing or internal channels.
This role suits someone who enjoys customer engagement, problem‑solving, and driving business growth from the inside, while developing the experience and commercial skill set that can lead to future progression into outsales position.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Inside Sales & Account Specialist role, includes and not limited to:
Customer Portfolio Management
- Manage and support a portfolio of customers as assigned.
- Handle day‑to‑day enquiries including pricing, quotations, product availability, order status, and technical information coordination.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross selling.
- Develop strong relationships and ensure a positive customer experience through timely and accurate communication.
Growth Within Existing Accounts
- Identify areas for product expansion within current customer accounts.
- Understand customer needs and suggest relevant solutions from our Principals’ portfolio.
- Work closely with the external sales team to coordinate account activities and ensure strategic alignment.
Inbound Lead Handling & New Opportunities
- Respond to new customer enquiries and qualify opportunities.
- Convert inbound leads into viable business opportunities where appropriate.
- Maintain an active pipeline, combining organic growth with new opportunities that arise through inbound enquiries, existing networks, or selectively identifying new customers.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate records in CRM systems, including opportunities, quotations, and customer interactions.
- Assist in forecasting, monthly reporting, and tracking sales performance.
- Analyse and monitor market trends and customer feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Support product promotions, campaigns, and digital engagement initiatives.
- Achieve KPIs which will be based on key responsibilities and deliverables
- Perform additional duties as required
Skills
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related science degree.
- 3–5 years in sales, technical sales, commercial support, or business development within the chemical manufacturing or distribution sector (preferred and highly regarded).
- Exposure to Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants & Construction (CASC) is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong communication and customer‑care skills.
- Ability to understand technical information and explain product benefits clearly.
- Organised, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Competent in MS Office and CRM systems.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
