About the Role

We are seeking a driven, proactive HR Operations & Payroll Specialist ANZ for a 9-month maternity leave replacement. 

 

The HR Operations Specialist plays a key role in delivering high-quality, people-focused HR services across the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, HR administration, HR systems management, and supporting the employee lifecycle. You will act as a trusted operational expert, ensuring accuracy, compliance with Australian and New Zealand employment legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager ANZ, the HR Operations Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to:

 

Payroll Management
•    Manage end-to-end payroll processing (weekly/monthly) for Australia and New Zealand
•    Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Fair Work Ombudsman, ATO/IRD, and superannuation requirements
•    Process new starters, terminations, pay adjustments, and leave entitlements
•    Coordinate and lodge monthly payroll tax, and superannuation payments as per statutory requirements
•    First point of contact for payroll and HR queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
•    Prepare payroll reporting, including STP (Single Touch Payroll), monthly and annual and end-of-year reporting

 

HR Operations
•    Administer, coordinate and provide guidance on HR processes and the full employee lifecycle (onboarding to offboarding)
•    Prepare employment contracts, variations, payroll and HR documentation
•    Support cyclical events including performance review cycles and remuneration processes
•    Ensure compliance with company policies, awards, and legislation
•    Coordinate employee benefits and leave administration
•    Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality
•    Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures and legislative requirements

 

Systems & Reporting
•    Maintain and optimise HRIS and payroll systems
•    Generate regular HR metrics and reports 
  

Skills

•    Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or related field (desirable) with payroll certification (highly regarded)
•    Proven experience in payroll and HR operations, preferably across Australia and New Zealand 
•    Working knowledge of ANZ payroll related legislation 
•    Experience with HR and payroll systems as admin (e.g., SAP/Success Factors, Workday, ADP)
•    Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple and competing deadlines
•    Customer service oriented to provide HR & payroll services
•    Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity
•    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
•    Positive, proactive and continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn
