About the Role
The Import Executive is responsible for placing PO’s to our suppliers, managing any transportation requirements and then importing and delivering the shipment to our warehouse or in some cases directly to the customer. creates the purchase orders, places the order and plans the product receipt. This role works closely with inventory planners, commercial sales team, customer service, portfolio management as well as with suppliers
Key Responsibilities
- Input all new Purchase Orders into JD Edwards & email PO to supplier for order placement
- Coordinate shipping schedule with sales, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Coordinate logistics with shipping lines, forwarders, drayage companies & warehouses
- Securing booking schedule to meet required inventory demand
- Track and trace incoming shipment with shipping line, trucking company and broker/forwarder
- Authorize / dispute supplier and logistics provider payments for accounting
- Handle claims on shipments as needed
- Create and maintain shipment files
- Effectively follow-up communications with all relative parties involved
- Respond to / handle sample order requests
- Maintain familiarity with business, staff and suppliers of Connell sourcing partners
- Coordinate and ensure proper filing of local documentation and declarations as needed for custom release
- Coordinate shipment clearance with customs broker/forwarder to ensure timely cargo clearance
- Dispatch delivery orders for pickup of cargo prior to LFD and avoid demurrage/detention
- Ensure prompt and accurate JD Edwards inventory recording and accrual of estimated Landed Cost
Skills
- Knowledge of operations and key factors impacting an integrated supply chain process
- Familiar with country import and export regulations
- Knowledgeable in general shipping matters – i.e., Letters of Credit, shipping documentation, claims, clearance, freight, shipment INCO terms, etc.
- PC skills with an emphasis on spreadsheets and data base programs. Well versed in MS Office software – i.e., Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, and Ms-PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with enterprise management system like SAP or J D Edwards
- Proactive high-service mindset.
- Good communication & teamwork skills – oral & written
- Organization, analytical & prioritization skills – able to multi-task under time pressure
- Ability to identify, drive and resolve issues with other groups proactively and effectively
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any related field
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in handling clearing & forwarding, product costing and customs.
- Familiar with specialty chemical / ingredient distribution
