About the Role
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and leading the accounting team to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Closing
- Prepare month-end, year-end closing and financial forecasts, budgets
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Ensure compliance with local and group accounting standards
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax…)
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Work with local tax authorities on all tax matters included tax finalizations, audits or inspections
- Act as the key contact with tax authorities, tax auditors and regulators
- Ensure adherence to company policies and statutory requirements
Budgeting & Analysis
- Support budget preparation and forecasting
- Analyze variances between actual vs budget
- Provide financial insights to management for decision-making
- Support cost control and efficiency initiatives
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members
- Allocate work and ensure deadlines are met
- Review team output for accuracy and completeness
- Support performance evaluations and training needs
Systems & Process Improvement
- Ensure proper use of ERP/accounting systems
- Improve accounting processes, controls, and automation
- Support system implementation or upgrades when required
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Chief Accountant certificate
- Professional qualification preferred (ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA)
Experience
- 5 years least of relevant accounting experience in foreign corporates
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership and people management abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- JDE is preferable/plus
